Starting running at the age of 45, Divya has so far won 50 medals in marathons held in different parts of the country, state and abroad. Still her enthusiasm has not diminished. Overcoming the difficulties with the strength of her courage, Divya is making continuous efforts to hoist the flag of India on the international stage as well. The special thing is that Divya is also handling the household and office work very well.

Divya of Gharoh Lanjhani village near Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh is no less than an inspiration. Divya tells that amidst the hustle and bustle of job and life, she joined a gym in Bangalore 13 years ago. During that time the trainer said and the idea of running came. The goal of running was not fitness but to stay active. But I didn’t realize when my childhood dream of becoming a runner came true. Divya Has participated in more than 91 renowned long distance marathon competitions in the last 10 years.

Recently, Divya completed the 75 kilometer race in Kangra Heritage Ultra Run in 11 hours 40 minutes and secured first place in the women’s category. Divya, who has worked in America, Canada and Bangalore for about nine years, has been living in Lanjhani for six years now. From here she is doing work from home in MNC company. Divya told that she has fixed three days a week for running. There is a 15-km race on Tuesday and Thursday and a 20-25 km race on Saturday. If there is any competition, she also runs 100 km a day or two before.

Now I can’t live without running –

Divya told that running has brought happiness in life and has also made her active. Now I cannot live without running. Exercise is very important to stay healthy and active. He said that youth should never over-trust. If something has to be done then it must be done. For this one should never think about time. If there is a goal then it should be accomplished. Be it 10 km or 50 km.

Divya marathon in India and abroad

In 2014, she stood first in the women’s category in the 10 km race in Bangalore. Took first place in 10 out of 20 full marathons of 42 km. First in the Indian category in the 42 km Mount Everest Marathon in 2018, winner in the senior category in the 72 km Khaddungla Challenge in 2016 and 2022, In 2019, she became the only woman winner of the extremely difficult 161 km (100 mi) ‘Garhwal-Nadurans Race’.

Divya was the only female participant among the five participants in this marathon, who made Devbhoomi proud by becoming the second runner up after two male runners in a span of 31 hours and eight minutes in nine degree temperature. Divya stood first among women in 80 km marathon in Uttarakhand in 2023. Apart from this, She has participated in trial runs in USA and California including 90 km Comrades Ultra Run in South Africa.
