The speaker was upset…

Let us tell you that in the last two meetings of the budget session of Himachal Pradesh Assembly held in Shimla, there was a lot of tussle between the ruling party and the opposition. Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania was extremely upset with the lapse in security arrangements while taking out the suspended BJP members from the House following the uproar by the opposition party in the Assembly. In a review meeting related to security in the Assembly Secretariat on March 1, he said that this should not be repeated in future and the security shield of the Assembly should be made strong and impenetrable.

In this meeting, he said that there was a lapse in security in the Assembly premises and had given orders for the deployment of permanent security officers in the Assembly. In this meeting, Home Secretary Abhishek Jain, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order Abhishek Trivedi, Inspector General of Police South Range PD Prasad, Inspector General of Police Vigilance Santosh Patial, Legislative Assembly Secretary Yashpal Sharma, Superintendent of Police Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi, Superintendent of Police CID District Shimla Bhupendra Negi, Commandant Home Guard III Corps Navita Sharma and Joint Secretary Legislative Assembly Beg Ram Kashyap were included.

During the meeting, Kuldeep Singh Pathania told the officials that Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly are the highest institutions of the parliamentary system and providing security should be our priority. Expressing regret over the lapses in security arrangements and lack of mutual coordination inside the House during the session, Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said that this should not be repeated in future and the security cover of the Assembly should be made strong and impenetrable.

Pathania said that now times have changed a lot and according to the changing environment and unwanted working style of many people, we need to strengthen the security system in Shimla and Tapovan (Dharamshala). Nowadays, MLAs and eminent people of the society are receiving personal threats due to many criminal organizations and mutual enmity. To combat it, we have to be prepared in advance and find a suitable solution to the crime even before it is committed. Following the instructions of the Assembly Speaker, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu has constituted a board of officers and asked to submit the report within 8 days.
