Rs 19.37 crore has been released for the mid-day meal of about 5.50 lakh children studying from nursery to class eight in the government schools of Himachal Pradesh and the salaries of 22 thousand personnel preparing food.
On Monday, Himachal government has released the budget to all the districts.
Schools are going to get the funds in a day or two.
Rs 5.75 crore is going to be spent on salaries of mid-day meal workers and Rs 13.61 crore is going to be spent on food for children.
The Central Government has released the third installment of the academic session 2023-24 under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana to Himachal Pradesh.
Education Minister of Himachal Pradesh Government, Rohit Thakur said that Himachal Government is making efforts to provide nutritious food to school children. Rs 5.45 per child per day is spent on providing food to children from nursery to class five and Rs 8.17 is spent on upper primary.
Different types of food are served to the children six days a week. For this, a special menu has been made in schools. On Monday of the first week, whole moong dal and rice, on Tuesday soya pulao with vegetables, on Wednesday rajma rice, on Thursday khichdi with chana dal and vegetables, on Friday urad dal and rice, on Saturday black gram and rice are prepared.
Similarly, on Monday of the second week, mixed dal and rice, black gram and dal on Tuesday, moong dal and vegetables and rice on Wednesday, vegetable and soya pulao on Thursday, rajma and rice or kadhi are prepared on Friday.
Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana is being run by the Government of India to provide nutritious food to all the children.
For this, the budget is released to Himachal Pradesh Government by the Central Government.
