Himachal Pradesh Government’s Education Minister Rohit Thakur said that the places for the construction of Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Model Schools in Himachal Pradesh have been selected with complete impartiality.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had announced in the budget for the financial year 2023-24 to open Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day-Boarding Schools in every assembly constituency.

So far, administrative and expenditure approval has been granted for construction of buildings in 18 assembly constituencies.

Rohit Thakur told that Ghumarwin, Nadaun, Badsar, Bhoranj, Sujanpur, Jwali, Jaswan Paragpur, Jaisinghpur, Palampur, Nagareta Bagwan, Fatehpur, Shahpur, Kinnaur, Jubbal Kotkhai, Shillai, Gagret and Haroli Places have been selected for Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Model School.

Rohit Thakur said that in future, land is going to be selected for the construction of Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools in other areas also. Land is being searched at a distance of five kilometers from the district, sub-division and tehsil. If sufficient land is not found within a radius of five kilometers, then special permission has been given to search for a place up to a distance of eight kilometers. 50 bighas of land is required for the construction of the school.

Government houses are allotted only as per rules: CM Sukhu

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that in Himachal Pradesh, government houses are allotted to employees as per the rules. Ministers are given one percent quota in housing allotment. Employees with health reasons are given priority in allotment of accommodation. During the Question Hour in the Assembly House on Tuesday, BJP MLA Bikram Singh said that due to out-of-turn accommodation, common employees are not getting its benefits. He has urged the Himachal government to fix the system of housing allotment. In response, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the Himachal Pradesh government has allotted 362 houses from the general pool. Of these, 159 residences have been allotted from the general pool without seniority. According to the rules, 50 percent houses are allotted out of turn and 50 percent on the basis of seniority. He said that out of 159 residences allotted without seniority, 141 residences were allotted on the basis of exigencies of service, eight residences on medical grounds, six residences from the quota of ministers to their personal staff, two residences in their marked residences during the transfer of officers, One house has been allotted due to the condition of the applicant’s allotted house not being good and one house has been allotted on the basis that the applicant’s house got damaged in the rainy season.

After the change of Himachal government, there is a staff of ministers who are given out-of-turn residences. Apart from this, 1236 cases are pending in different district headquarters.
