Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 06:  Congress rebels and disqualified MLAs Sudhir Sharma and Rajinder Rana, who cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha elections of Himachal Pradesh, have been removed from important posts of the Congress party. Rebel and disqualified MLA Sudhir Sharma has been removed from the post of AICC Secretary by the Congress high command, while on the other hand, another rebel and disqualified MLA Rajinder Rana has resigned from the post of Working President of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee. Rajinder Rana has sent his resignation from his post to the Congress Party high command.

Rebel and disqualified Congress MLAs Sudhir Sharma and Rajinder Rana were posted on the above posts in Congress for a long time. Congress rebel and disqualified MLA Sudhir Sharma was Appointed AICC Secretary in the year 2018. So the same Rajinder Rana was given the post of Himachal Pradesh Congress President in the year 2022. Regarding the removal of Congress rebel and disqualified MLA Sudhir Sharma from the post of AICC Secretary, Congress Party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal has been issued Notification on Wednesday.

Rajinder Rana has been closest to former Himachal Pradesh BJP Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal –

Rebel and disqualified MLA Rajinder Rana was once called Hanuman of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal. Rajinder Rana entry into politics was also due to Prem Kumar Dhumal. After coming to power in 2007, former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal had appointed Rajinder Rana as the Vice Chairman of Himachal Pradesh Media Board, but after some time, Rajinder Rana had to leave the post of Vice Chairman of Himachal Pradesh Media Board. Earlier in the year 2012, Rajinder Rana had contested the elections as an independent candidate from Sujanpur assembly seat of Hamirpur district. In the 2012 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, BJP CPS Urmil Thakur and Congress CPS Anita Verma were in the fray against Rajinder Rana, but Rajinder Rana defeated both of them and won as an independent candidate by 14166 votes. In the year 2012, the Congress government was formed in Himachal Pradesh under the leadership of the then Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and at that time Rajinder Rana became the Associate MLA of the Congress. Meanwhile, Lok Sabha elections were held in the year 2014. Congress had fielded Congress candidate Rajinder Rana against MP Anurag Thakur, who had won a hat-trick from Hamirpur parliamentary seat. At that time Rajinder Rana had to leave the post of Associate MLA. The Congress party had fielded Rajinder Rana wife Anita Rana as its candidate in the by-election from Sujanpur seat. During the Lok Sabha elections, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi wave was sweeping the country, Congress Anita Rana lost the election to BJP Candidate Narendra Thakur by just 550 votes. Despite the defeat, the then Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had awarded Rajinder Rana the post of Vice Chairman of Himachal Pradesh Disaster Management Board.

Let us tell you that on February 27, in the Rajya Sabha elections, along with Sudhir Sharma and Rajinder Rana, six Congress MLAs had cross-voted. The next day, six Congress MLAs who had cross-voted during the budget passage and cut motion were absent from the HP Assembly House.

On behalf of the ruling Congress party, Industries and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan had filed a petition before Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania to cancel the membership of six rebel Congress MLAs for violating the whip issued by the Congress party. While hearing the petition, Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania disqualified six Congress MLAs and canceled the membership of six rebel Congress MLAs with immediate effect. Apart from the six rebel Congress MLAs, three independent MLAs also voted in favor of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan in the Rajya Sabha elections. Now all the nine MLAs are camping in a hotel in Panchkula, Haryana for the last one week.
