Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 07: A new initiative has been started by the Himachal Pradesh School Education Department to inspire patriotism in the schools of Himachal Pradesh and to inculcate respect for the martyrs in the children’s minds. Under the new initiative, senior secondary and high schools of Himachal Pradesh will now be known as martyrs. There are about 10 such schools in Himachal Pradesh whose names have been changed.

Himachal Pradesh Higher Education Director Dr. Amarjeet Sharma has issued a notification regarding changing the names of 10 schools in Himachal Pradesh.
Notification for changing the names of 10 schools of Himachal Pradesh is available on the official website of Himachal Pradesh School Education Department. The 10 schools of Himachal Pradesh include schools of Shimla, Sirmour, Mandi, Kangra.

Jubbal School in Shimla district will now be known as Thakur Ramlal Senior Secondary School, Jubbal. With this, Gaggal School in Kangra district has now been given to Chaudhary Tarachand School, Narang School in Sirmour district has been given to Pandit Durga Dutt, Dhah School in Kangra district has been given to Major Somnath Sharma, Haled School in Kangra has been given to Shahid Anil Chauhan, Tikaru School in Mandi has been given to Shaheed Pratap Singh, Barara School in Hamirpur will be known as Shaheed Krishna Kumar, Hamirpur School in Hamirpur district will be known as Shaheed Captain Mridul Sharma, Paror School in Kangra district will be known as Shaheed Surendra Singh and Bai Chiri School in Shimla district will be known as Shaheed Ved Prakash.
For the first time in Himachal Pradesh, the present Congress government has implemented the system of changing the names of 10 schools of Himachal Pradesh. The main objective of changing the name is to inspire patriotism among the school children’s of the state.
