Una, July 19: A monkey took away a four month old child in Chatara village near Una district headquarters of Himachal Pradesh. The monkey took the child away and threw him on a heap of gravel. The child was badly injured. The child has been admitted to the regional hospital Una for treatment. The forest department has also started an investigation into the incident.

According to the information received, Jyoti of Una city had come to her maternal home Chatara village with her four month old son. Jyoti was going near the house carrying her son in her lap. Suddenly a monkey came and pounced on the mother and son. During this, the monkey snatched away Jyoti’s four month old son. Jyoti shouted and asked for help from the local people. Seeing Jyoti shouting, the people nearby came forward to help and ran after the monkey to free the child. Seeing people coming towards them, the monkey threw the child on a heap of gravel. The child was badly injured in the incident. The child also has injuries on his body due to the monkeys scratching him.

The residents of Chatara village say that monkeys have injured many people before this as well.

Forest Divisional Officer Una, Sushil Rana says that the number of monkeys has increased a lot in the area. This has become a matter of concern for the department as well. The department will soon launch a campaign to solve this problem of monkeys.
