Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 06: Universal Carton is being implemented in Himachal Pradesh from this apple season. Notification regarding Universal Carton Standards has been finalised. This information was given by Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi in a press conference held in the capital Shimla on Wednesday.

Jagat Singh Negi said that there will be a universal carton for apples and apples can also be sold according to weight. Negi said that information about the type of Universal Carton will be made available soon.

Negi said that apple has great importance in the economy of Himachal.
Negi said there is no ban on selling apples in crates, but the packaging of apples will be as per the standards. How much will the universal carton weigh?, what will be the size?. SOP will be issued regarding all these things soon.
