Himachal News: Illegal Liquor Trade Was Going On In The Primary School Building, Consignment Of 2069 Liters Of English And Country Liquor Recovered.
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Dharamshala, April 03: Baijnath police on Tuesday recovered a consignment of 2069 liters of English and country liquor from the primary school building in Gawal. The value of the illegally stored liquor has been estimated at Rs 13 lakh, 91 thousand 600.
Acting on a tip-off, the Baijnath police raided an old primary school building near Chobin. On investigating the premises, the police recovered 225 boxes of whiskey and 5 boxes of country liquor of different brands. Also, 48 year old accused Ajay Kumar, resident of village Bairi, tehsil Sandhol, Mandi, has been arrested.
Let us tell you that this primary school located in Gawal was closed by the Himachal government in 2012. Accused Ajay Kumar was running illegal liquor business from the closed primary school. Baijnath Police SHO Bhupinder Singh, ASI Sunil Kumar, Malkiat Singh, Constable Hoshiar Singh carried out this action after receiving secret information.

During the raid, accused Ajay Kumar could not produce any permit or license regarding illicit liquor. After not getting any satisfactory reply from the accused, brand wise different batches of liquor kept in the room and the brand ‘For Sale in HP’ were found. On counting, there were 18 cardboard boxes of Royal Green Whiskey, 43 boxes of McDowells, 64 boxes of All Seasons, 57 boxes of Royal Challenge, 2 boxes each of Golfer Shot and Signature, 7 boxes of Officer’s Choice Blue, one box of Magic Moment, 26 boxes of Solan No. 1, 1 box of Grain Vodka, one box of Officer’s Choice, 5 boxes of country liquor Marka Santra were recovered. Each box contained 12 liquor bottles of 750 ml each. Apart from this, 2 boxes of Green Level Half and 1 box of Blender Pride were recovered.

During the raid, a total of 2664 bottles of English liquor weighing 750 ml, 60 bottles of 750 ml country liquor, 48 bottles of 375 ml of Green Label and 48 bottles of 180 ml of Blender Pride were recovered.
Additional Superintendent of Police Bir Bahadur has confirmed the recovery of liquor consignment in the primary school building.
