Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 18: The team of Special Cell of Shimla District Police has arrested four smugglers with chitta in Nankhadi. Police have recovered 204 grams of Chitta from the possession of the accused. Three accused caught with Chitta are from Himachal and one from Delhi.

On Sunday evening, the four accused were coming from Kholighat in a pickup vehicle number (HP 63-6389), when the police stopped the pickup near Tikkar and during the search, the said quantity of chitta was seized from the accused.
The value of the recovered chitta in the international market is around Rs 40 lakh. The arrested accused have been identified as Rakesh Kumar (34) and Vivek Chauhan (35), residents of Kotkhai, Shimla, Domeshwar Dutt (41), resident of Gohar in Mandi district and Amit Gupta (39), resident of Mayur Vihar, Delhi.

The team of Special Cell of Shimla District Police is finding out from where the accused had brought Chitta and where they were going to supply it. Police are also investigating the backward linkages of the accused. During police remand, many important revelations related to Chitta mafia can be made from the accused.
SP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi said that action is being taken by registering a case under NDPS Act in Nankhadi police station against the accused after taking possession of the consignment of Chitta. The accused will be produced in the court today and taken on remand.
