Mandi, July 09: Police have recovered jewellery worth Rs 15 lakhs which was stolen in broad daylight in Palyani village of Barsu in Balh valley of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. The thief in this case is none other than the drug addict son of the house. The youth who carried out this theft on Wednesday did this to satisfy his drug addiction. After stealing the jewellery, the accused hid it in his own room. Police recovered it before it could be sold.

According to the information received, on Wednesday, when the family members had gone out to mourn, there was no one in the house between 11 am and 1:30 pm. Taking advantage of this opportunity, a clever thief stole gold jewellery worth about 15 lakh rupees from the house. When the family members lodged a complaint of theft with the police, the police immediately showed promptness.

In the last few days, dozens of theft incidents have been reported in various parts of Mandi district. Drug-addicted youths are stealing iron nets, bikes and other items. Now even houses are being targeted for petty thefts.

DSP Headquarters Devraj said that this theft incident has been solved and appropriate action is being taken in the case.
