Sirmour, July 10: A 24-year-old drug addict youth jumped from the Yamuna bridge in Paonta Sahib subdivision of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Fortunately, his life was saved.

According to the information received, after jumping, the young man fell on the gravel in the Yamuna river. It was also a coincidence that divers were also present on the banks of the Yamuna river, they swam and reached the young man immediately. The young man’s life was saved with great difficulty.

Investigation has also revealed that the youth who jumped is a drug addict. He had come to roam on Yamuna bridge with his friends in a state of intoxication. During this time he jumped into the river. Divers saw him and saved him, so without wasting time they brought him to the shore.

During this time, friends had informed the police. Police reached the spot and took Akash in injured condition to Paonta hospital. After first aid, he was referred to a higher centre. Aakash is said to have fractures in both his legs and back.

DSP Aditi Singh said that investigation is on. According to the DSP, Aakash is a drug addict and has stayed in a de-addiction centre earlier as well. He jumped into the Yamuna river in a state of intoxication.
