Mandi, July 10: Dhandev, a resident of Balh in Mandi district, is missing for the last 16 days after the building was evacuated after a fire broke out in the workers’ residential building in Kuwait.

Dhandev, a resident of Barsu in Balh subdivision, was working as a motor mechanic in Kuwait for the last 7 years. Dhandev used to visit home from time to time. Dhandev went to Kuwait to work 9 months ago after his father’s death last year.

Dhandev’s family members said that after the fire, the building was being evacuated by the Kuwait government, so on June 22, Dhandev told them that he would send them tickets. On June 24, Dhandev called again and refused to send the tickets and from that day onwards his number was switched off. After Dhandev’s contact was not available, his family members are crying and inconsolably.

Dhandev’s wife said that there has been no contact with him since the evening of 24 June, due to which the whole family is worried. Mother Masra Devi said that the burden of the whole family is on Dhandev’s head and he is the only earning member. The family also met MP Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday and requested her to find Dhandev soon.

Meanwhile, Dhandev’s maternal uncle Hansraj said that they have appealed to the Mandi district administration as well as the Himachal Pradesh government to search for Dhandev, but no clue has been found yet.

Dhandev has all the documents including passport and visa. His colleagues in Kuwait also searched for Dhandev but he has not been found yet. He said that if the Himachal Pradesh government only helps them in finding Dhandev, they will bear the cost of bringing him back home.
