Solan, 21 July: In the world of cinema, the rift between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is well known through folk songs like ‘Sasuji tune meri kadar na jani’ or the Haryanvi song ‘Sasu lad mat, lad mat nyari kar de’.Many times the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is so bitter that it even leads to violence. There are many examples where mother-in-law and daughter-in-law do not get along. But here a different example has come to light. The daughter-in-law could not bear the shock of her mother-in-law’s death and she too departed from this world along with her.

A very heart touching incident took place in village Sauri under Baddi tehsil of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, which plunged the entire Baddi area into mourning. After her 57-year-old mother-in-law Savitri Devi suddenly fell ill, she died. But the tragic incident took an even more serious turn when daughter-in-law Neeraj Devi. Meena (27), wife of Ram Gopal, could not bear the shock of her mother-in-law’s death and she also died. The pyres of both were lit together at the cremation ground adjoining the village.

The mother-in-law’s health suddenly deteriorated. The family immediately took her to the local doctor, where she was declared dead. This news plunged the family into deep mourning. When the family reached home with the mother-in-law’s body, the daughter-in-law fainted after seeing this scene. The daughter-in-law was also immediately taken to Nalagarh Hospital, but there too the doctors declared her dead. The team of Barotiwala Police Station reached the spot and took necessary action. The bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem.

CPS Ram Kumar Chaudhary has expressed deep condolences to the family. This incident reminds us of the mortality of life and the importance of affection and respect towards each other. In such difficult times, the support of society and family is of utmost importance. This incident also showed how to deal with sudden changes in life and the importance of family unity and support.

In May 2018, a similar news came to light from Nahan in Sirmour but the case was different. Here the mother-in-law could not bear the shock of the death of her daughter-in-law Anuradha Chugh (38). Mother-in-law Kiran Chugh (63) also died within 10-12 hours of the daughter-in-law’s death.
