Social security pension benefits are going to be given to 40 thousand new beneficiaries in the next financial year 2024-25 starting from April 1. CM Sukhu said that under the Social Security Pension Scheme, 40 thousand new beneficiaries are going to be added in the next financial year by spending an additional Rs 70 crore. This information was given by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while presiding over the state level function of Ekal Nari Sangathan on Monday.

CM Sukhu has participated in this program after returning from Banaras.

CM Sukhu said that the state government is committed to the welfare of the needy and deprived sections of the society.

He said that about Rs 1260 crore has been allocated for this scheme, from which about 7 lakh 84 thousand beneficiaries including old people, widows, single women, disabled people and leprosy patients are going to benefit.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government is also going to provide financial assistance to widow women for house construction. Apart from this, provision for electricity, water and other basic needs has also been made for newly constructed houses under this scheme.

CM Sukhu said that in order to provide higher education to the disabled, a center of excellence is going to be established in Kandaghat of Solan district. In this centre, various facilities including sports ground, residential complex and other facilities will be provided to the disabled persons up to the age of 27 years. Apart from this, financial assistance will also be provided for renting accommodation to eligible disabled children who do not have any accommodation facility.

CM Sukhu said that the state government is going to spend an additional amount of about Rs 41 crore on bringing eligible women under the annual health insurance premium.

On this occasion, MLA Harish Janartha, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap and representatives of Ekal Nari Sangathan were also present.

Widow women and eligible children will get one thousand rupees per month deposited in their recurring deposit accounts: Sukhu –

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government has started the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Shiksha Yojana with a view to provide assistance in higher education to the children of widowed women up to the age of 27 years with annual income less than Rs 1 lakh. He said that the scheme is going to cover the expenditure incurred on pursuing higher education in Nursing, Medical, Engineering, National Institutes of Technology, Indian Institutes of Management, Indian Institutes of Technology, undergraduate and postgraduate courses etc.

Apart from this, one thousand rupees per month will be deposited in the recurring deposit accounts of eligible children till they complete 18 years of age.
