The team of Special Cell of Shimla Police has arrested a smuggler red-handed while selling opium in Theog sub-division late on Saturday night. 500 grams of opium has been recovered from the smuggler’s possession. The price of 500 grams of opium in the international market is more than one lakh rupees.

The accused was selling this opium to people in small quantities. The accused has been identified as Prem Bahadur (40). He is a native of Rukum District of Nepal.

Theog’s DSP Siddharth Sharma said on Sunday that an accused of Nepali origin has been caught red-handed selling opium in Dhalau Kanchi near Fagu of Theog. Special Cell of Shimla Police had received information about his involvement in opium smuggling.

Siddharth Sharma said that a case has been registered against the accused in Theog police station under the NDPS Act and action is being taken. He will be produced in the court and taken on remand.
