Himachal: Madhya Pradesh girl dies after slipping in Beas river
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Kullu, May 26In the tourist town of Manali in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, the feet of two tourists suddenly slipped on the banks of the Beas river under Nehru Kund and both of them were swept away, due to which a painful accident has come to light.After hours of rescue operation, the Manali police station team found the body of a girl. The body of the other youth has not been recovered yet.Search operation is going on on the banks of river Beas by the team of Manali police station with the help of local swimmers and divers.
Manali police station in-charge said that due to the scorching heat in the mountains, the snow is melting rapidly, and the water level of the Beas river has also started rising suddenly.
He told that some tourists were having fun on the banks of Vyas river under Nehru Kund of tourist city Manali.
Then suddenly a girl’s foot slipped and she was swept away with the currents of the Beas river.Then the young man along with the girl risked his life by jumping into the waves of river Vyas to save the girl, due to which both the young man and the girl died due to being washed away.Information about the tourists being washed away was given to the Manali police by the local people.
Manali police station in-charge along with his entire team reached the spot and conducted a search operation in the Vyas river and after several hours of hard work, the body of the girl was found but the youth could not be traced.
Manali police station in-charge said that the deceased girl has been identified as Richa Tiwari, age 23, resident of Madhya Pradesh.Also, the missing youth has been identified as Saurabh Shah, age 32, resident of Hyderabad, by Manali police station in-charge.DSP Manali KD Sharma said that rescue operation is going on for the missing tourist.Also, the deceased girl has been sent for postmortem.The family members of the girl have been informed, a case has been registered and investigation is being done by the teams of Manali Police Station.
