Himachal Election:1 Lakh 38 Thousand Voters Will Cast Their Vote For The First Time, Voting Will Be Held In 7990 Centres.

Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 17: Himachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Manish Garg said in a press conference in Shimla that election notification will be issued in Himachal Pradesh on May 7. May 14 will be the last date for filing nominations in the state. Nominations can be withdrawn till May 17. Voting will be held in Himachal Pradesh on June 1, while election results will be declared simultaneously across the country on June 4.

7,990 polling stations have been identified for the elections on four Lok Sabha seats of Himachal Pradesh, which is an increase of 267 polling stations as compared to the previous elections. In the state, youth who have completed 18 years of age by April 1, 2024 will also be able to take part in voting. According to the data released by the State Election Department on Saturday, the total number of voters in the state till March 15, 2024 is 56,38,422. There are 28,79,200 male, 27,59,187 female and 35 third gender voters. The most important responsibility lies with 23,95,323 young voters in the age group of 18 to 40. There are 56,320 PWD voters in the state and 60,995 voters above 85 years of age.

Voters can give complaints related to violation of code of conduct through toll free number 1950. The aim of the Election Commission is to conduct fair elections. The number of people voting for the first time in the state is 1 lakh 38 thousand 918, which is 2.5 percent of the total voters.

The number of voters in more than 231 polling stations in the state is more than 1200. Chief Election Commissioner Manish Garg said that around 50 thousand election personnel will be deployed in the state. He said that till now 425 polling stations have been identified as sensitive in the state. Although this process will continue till the last moment, additional security forces will also be deployed at these polling stations. According to the Election Commission, there is a limit of expenditure of Rs 95 lakh per parliamentary constituency during the current elections. In the last elections this limit was Rs 70 lakh per parliamentary constituency.

State Chief Election Commissioner Manish Garg said that voting will also be held at the world’s highest polling station in the state. Tashigang polling station will be established at an altitude of 15 thousand 256 feet, which is the highest polling station in the world. Apart from this, the journey to Chamba Ehalmi and Bhattiyat Chakki polling stations will have to be covered after a 13 kilometer walk. Whereas, one has to reach Satkutera in Fatehpur by boat.
