Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Nahan, April 05: Police is gearing up to conduct fair Loksabha elections in Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh, bordering Uttarakhand, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. In view of the elections, Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Kundu, while talking to journalists in the auditorium of the Superintendent of Police, said that Sirmour has a border of 126 kilometers with Haryana. The border of Uttarakhand is 97 kilometers, while the border of Uttar Pradesh is two kilometers.
The DGP said that the first phase of voting is to be held in the neighboring states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on April 19, hence patrolling is being done with full alertness on the borders. DGP said that till now 9 Inter State Coordination Committee meetings have been organized. The DGP said that Sirmour Superintendent of Police has been instructed to patrol the borders of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on foot, so that every route to enter the state is known.

The DGP said that he looks at the elections from four perspectives. Pre-polling, polling, post-polling and counting of votes. Currently we are going through the phase of pre-polling. Director General of Police said that there are 8 bottling plants for liquor production in Sirmour. This matter has been raised with the Excise and Taxation Department that the functioning of the CCTV cameras of these bottling plants should be checked, along with this, Home Guard personnel will also be deployed separately, so that it can be ensured that the elections are conducted smoothly. In view of this, there should be no illegal production in liquor units.
He said that there are 105 liquor vends in Sirmour. Instructions have also been given to inspect them. About two thousand soldiers will be required for elections in Sirmour. Paramilitary forces will also provide separate services.

DGP said that CRPF has been deployed in three police stations. He said that currently 19 inter state checkpoints are being set up. Of these, five checkpoints are on the border of Uttarakhand and 14 on the border of Haryana. Out of this, 100 percent staff has been deployed at five checkpoints in Uttarakhand and seven in Haryana.
DGP said that soon there will be a second coordination meeting at SHO level with Uttarakhand and Haryana, so that effective steps can be taken in the neighboring states also regarding the first phase.
The DGP said that he inspected the Haryana border under Kala Amb police station on Thursday. Reached Nahan on Friday morning after taking stock of Uttarakhand border. He said that till now 46 percent weapons have been collected. The DGP said that it will be ensured that 100 percent of the arms are collected before voting in Uttarakhand and Haryana.
