Himachal: Car Driver Ran Away After Crushing a Policeman, Charas Recovered From His Possession After Being Caught
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Sundernagar (Mandi), April 09: The driver ran away from the spot after mowing down a policeman when he signaled him to stop the car for investigation in Sundernagar on the Kiratpur-Nerchowk Fourlane Highway. But the police chased him and caught the driver at some distance. When the car was searched, 260 grams of Charas was recovered from it. The injured policeman has been admitted to the civil hospital for treatment. Police has started the investigation of the matter.
According to the information, Sundernagar police station had blocked the Kiratpur-Nerchowk four-lane highway in Pung on Tuesday morning. During this, the police signaled the car (HP55C-2049) coming from Kullu to stop for investigation. But the car driver did not stop at the spot and when they tried to stop him, he tried to crush the police team. During this time, other policemen were saved, but one policeman was hit by a car and got injured in the collision.

After this incident, the car driver started fleeing from the spot and left the place after hitting the police jeep and the divider. But during this time the tire of his car got punctured. The police chased him and caught him about 200 meters ahead. When the car of the accused was searched, 260 grams of hashish was recovered from it.

Confirming the case, SP Mandi Sakshi Verma said that the accused has been identified as 25-year-old Ritwik Thakur, son of Ajay Verma, resident of Nadaun, district Hamirpur. A case has been registered against the accused in Sundernagar police station and action has been initiated.
