Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Manali (Kullu), March 19: A two and a half storey house has been razed to the ground due to a landslide in Jagatsukh of Manali sub-division of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. 18 dogs along with a cow were buried under the debris in the landslide that occurred at midnight. The husband and wife living inside the house are safe. The debris is being removed. Six dogs were rescued alive. The rescue operation is going on.

According to the complete information received from the spot, Navdeep Singh, son of Satguru Singh, resident of village Haripur, Manali told that he has retired from the education department. His daughter Gayatri has taken Yogesh two and a half storey house on rent in Nagni Nala of Jagatsukh. Gayatri runs an NGO and runs an animal rescue center here. Navdeep told that he lives in Jagatsukh with his wife and daughter.

Navdeep Singh told that there was also a cow and 24 dogs in the house. There was a huge explosion while they were sleeping at night. Felt like an earthquake had happened. But when I woke up, I saw that debris from the landslide in the hill had entered the house. The house was completely damaged by the landslide. One cow and 18 dogs were buried under the debris due to the landslide. All the belongings of the house also got buried under the debris.

The landslide has caused a loss of approximately Rs 70 lakh. 20 apple trees have been damaged due to landslide debris reaching Indradev garden in Bhanara village.

SDM Manali Raman Kumar Sharma said that cows and pet dogs were buried under the debris due to the landslide. The Revenue Department is assessing the loss. Police team has also reached the spot. The dogs are being rescued after removing the debris.
