Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 18: Six rebel Congress MLAs of Himachal Pradesh have not got relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court on Monday heard a petition challenging Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania decision to disqualify six rebel Congress MLAs. Senior advocate Harish Salve, appearing for the rebel leaders, presented the case in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court issued notice to the respondents on a petition filed by rebel leaders challenging Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania decision to disqualify them. The Supreme Court refused to stay Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania decision to disqualify rebel leaders. Supreme Court Also refused permission to vote or participate in the proceedings of the House. The hearing of the case has been scheduled for May 6. Both the parties will have to file counter affidavits within four weeks.

Let us tell you, Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania had canceled the eligibility of six Congress MLAs Sudhir Sharma, Rajinder Rana, Indradutt Lakhanpal, Ravi Thakur, Davinder Bhutto and Chaitanya Sharma for violating the whip.

Despite the whip being issued, these MLAs did not appear in the House during the passage of the budget, due to which the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania took action against them. These rebels, who cross-voted in favor of BJP in the Rajya Sabha elections, have challenged the decision of the Speaker in the Supreme Court.
