Hamirpur, July 13: The Dhumal family dominates Hamirpur. The victory of BJP candidate Ashish Sharma has proved this once again. In the assembly by-election, the electoral contest between BJP candidate Ashish Sharma and Congress candidate Pushpinder Verma was close. Ashish Sharma managed to win the Hamirpur seat by 1571 votes.

BJP candidate Ashish Sharma has won from Hamirpur seat for the second consecutive time. As soon as the counting of votes started, Congress candidate Pushpinder Verma took the lead, but the atmosphere changed after the sixth round of counting. There was a festive atmosphere in the Congress till the fifth round, while there was silence in the BJP camp.
In the sixth round, BJP candidate Ashish Sharma broke the lead of Congress and took the lead. Congress could not break this lead of BJP. Three candidates were trying their luck in Hamirpur by-election. In the end, the game was in the hands of BJP, here the deposit of the independent candidate was forfeited. He got only 73 votes, while 198 people opted for NOTA. At the same time, Ashish Sharma got 27041 votes and Pushpinder Verma got 25470 votes.
It is worth mentioning that in the three assembly elections, the responsibility of Hamirpur was given to Anurag Thakur by the top leadership, the responsibility of Nalagarh was given to former Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur and the responsibility of Dehra was given to BJP State President Rajiv Bindal.
Earlier, in the assembly by-elections held along with the Lok Sabha, BJP had won the Barsar seat of Hamirpur. Hamirpur district is the home district of the Chief Minister of Himachal, despite this, Anurag Thakur gave victory to BJP in Hamirpur assembly by-election and Barsar assembly by-election held along with Lok Sabha.
