Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 16: Along with four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh, the date of by-election in 6 assembly constituencies has also been announced. These by-elections will be held in the seventh phase of Lok Sabha on June 1. The notification for the seventh phase will be released on May 7. The date for filing nomination papers has been fixed as May 14. The sorting of nomination papers will be done on May 15. Applications can be withdrawn till 17th May, counting of votes will take place on 4th June.

By-elections will be held in Dharamshala, Lahaul-Spiti, Sujanpur, Badsar, Gagret and Kutlehar assembly constituencies. Interestingly, the rebel leaders of Congress will have to go through the examination once again to reach the Assembly again.

Six rebel Congress MLAs were dismissed by the Assembly Speaker, the Election Commission was also informed about this. Although the rebel leaders have gone to the Supreme Court against the decision of the Assembly Speaker, no relief has been received so far.

The hearing is to be held in the Supreme Court on Monday. However, it was believed that by-elections for the Assembly could also be held along with the Lok Sabha, but there was doubt regarding the petition being filed in the Supreme Court.

Announcing the General Elections, the country Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that 26 posts of assembly members are vacant in 13 states. Himachal has the maximum number of seats at 26. Elections for five assembly seats in Gujarat will be held in the third phase. Apart from this, assembly by-elections will also be held in Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. In the seventh phase, Lok Sabha elections will be held in 8 states.
