Shortage of Teachers In Himachal
Shimla, March 01: There is a huge shortage of teachers to promote sports activities in government schools of the state. In fact, apart from studies in schools, children are not able to participate in other types of sports and entertainment activities. The reason is that there are no physical teachers in schools to conduct these activities.
According to the information received from the Education Department, 93 posts of physical teachers, 2115 posts of (PTI) and 1567 posts of art teachers are vacant in schools.

The state government says that the matter of filling these posts in schools is pending in the court. Only after that the department can take any step in this direction. The process of filling the vacant posts of art teachers is being completed by the department.
Earlier, even in the BJP government, teachers kept demanding to fill the vacant posts in schools, but these posts were not filled in five years. For this reason, these posts are still vacant in schools. In this, teachers are continuously retiring, but new recruitments are also not being done.
Unemployed youth are now hopeful that the Congress government will give approval to fill these posts.
Earlier, the situation of art teachers was also the same, but later the process of filling the posts of art teachers in schools was started.
The physical teachers are still waiting. The Physical Teachers Association says that after filling the posts of art teachers, the new government should soon fill the vacant posts of physical teachers in schools.
Physical teachers have been pleading the government to fill the vacant posts in schools for 20 years and now the unemployed physical teachers have crossed the age of 47. Most of the unemployed physical teachers are no longer eligible to appear for the examination through Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) due to old age.
These older unemployed people had only one hope left from the BJP government that they should be provided appointment in schools soon on the basis of batch wise recruitment, but this demand could not be fulfilled. There are many senior secondary schools where physical education is a subject but there are no teachers to teach that subject.
