Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, May 13:Three hundred and eighteen principals are going to retire from the government schools of Himachal Pradesh at the end of the year 2024.Himachal Pradesh Higher Education Department has issued a notification of the list of all the principals who are going to retire at the end of the year 2024, in which it has been told that after March and April, now in the month of December, one hundred and twenty-five principals of government schools of the state will be retiring. The process of filling all the vacant posts of Principals had also been started by the Education Department, but due to the Model Code of Conduct, the entire process is lying in cold bed.

The lecturer and head teacher of the government schools of Himachal Pradesh is appointed to the post of Principal by the Education Department on the basis of promotion.
At present, lecturers and head teachers are being appointed to the post of Principal on the basis of placement by the Education Department.
Due to which the lecturer and the head teacher have stopped getting all the financial and other benefits which they were earlier getting after becoming the principal.
It has also been demanded from the Himachal Government that instead of appointing lecturers and head teachers to the post of principals on the basis of placement, they should be appointed to the post of principals on regular basis.
