Shimla, September 07: A case of molestation of a student of a school in Shimla has come to light. A lecturer teaching English in the school has been accused of molestation. On the complaint of the school’s principal, the police have registered an FIR against the accused lecturer under the POCSO Act for sexual harassment and started investigation. The incident took place in a government school in Sunni police station area of Shimla.
According to the case, a 15-year-old minor girl studying in class 11 in the school has accused the English subject lecturer posted in the same school that the accused has touched her in an obscene manner. Due to this, the victim got scared and started living in fear. The victim informed her classmates about this act of the lecturer. The school girls had complained about the accused teacher to the school management on October 26. The school’s sexual harassment committee investigated the matter at its level and then the school’s principal lodged a complaint against the accused in Sunni police station. As the case involved a minor, Sunni police took immediate action and registered an FIR against the accused school spokesperson.
According to the police, a case has been registered against the accused teacher under Section 75 (1) of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act. Meanwhile, the accused teacher is now facing the threat of suspension. After the FIR, the education department has started taking departmental action against the accused.

Earlier also, cases of molestation of girl students in school premises have come to light in Shimla district. In the month of September, a teacher of a government school in Theog subdivision molested and did obscene acts with a minor girl student in the school premises. The teacher was also accused of sending dirty messages to the victim student on WhatsApp. After listening to the girl’s ordeal, her family gave a written complaint to the police. On which a case was registered against the accused teacher under sections of molestation, sexual harassment and POCSO.
