Shimla, 08 August: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and New Media at Himachal Pradesh University unveiled the poster of Him Film Festival to be held in Dharamshala on 19th and 20th October 2024 under the joint aegis of Him Cine Society Himachal Pradesh. Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Central University Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal was present as the chief guest in the program.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Bansal and members of Him Cine Society unveiled the poster of Him Film Festival. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Bansal congratulated the members of the society and the department. He said that the initiative of the society to provide a platform to the youth is very commendable. This will expose the hidden talents. Himachal is known for its herbaric beauty. The beauty of Himachal is also praised in foreign countries. There are good locations for the production of films here. Films can be produced here in a very low budget as compared to abroad.

It will be ensured that the students of the Central University move forward in this direction. The media department of the university is quite active. In the coming time, there is a plan to start some film making related courses in the department. So that the youth can get training.

In the program, Vice President of Him Cine Society Bharti Kuthiala explained the program in detail and discussed the topics. She told that there will be prizes up to 5 lakhs in this festival. Him Cine Society is moving towards good film production, away from vulgarity in films. In the program, Ashwani, who won the first prize in Bharatiya Chitra Sadhna, was honored. He had received the award for the documentary “Next Spot Folk Music”.

Dean Academic Prof. Pradeep Kumar, Registrar Prof. Suman Sharma, Prof. Vishal Sood, Dean of School Dr. Rampravesh Rai, Head of Journalism Department Dr. Archana Katoch, Director Research Prof. Pradeep Nair and students of Media Department were present in the program. The stage was conducted by researcher Ankur.
