Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Kullu, April 04: The 16558 feet high Shinkula Pass, situated between the strategically important Darcha-Padum-Neemu road and covered with several feet thick layer of snow, has been restored for the movement of all types of vehicles from Thursday.
RK Saha, Chief Engineer of BRO’s Yojak Project, flagged off the vehicles from the pass towards Zanskar Valley. The vehicles were flagged off after formal pooja ceremony in a program organized by 13 BRTF, 126 RCC and Yojak Project.

On this occasion, Chief Engineer of Yojak Project RK Saha said that due to the hard work of BRO soldiers, Shinkula Pass has been restored. BRO personnel have been working continuously to remove 20 to 25 feet thick layer of snow in minus temperature and have restored the Darcha -Padum-Neemu road for vehicular movement.

RK Saha said that the opening of the strategically important Darcha -Padum-Neemu road will also have a positive impact on tourism. He said that this is the most accessible road to Leh.
