Vidyavati said, under India’s G20 tourism track, the tourism working group is working on five interconnected priority areas of green tourism, digitalisation, skills, tourism MSME and destination management.
India is presiding over the G20 this time. At the same time, G20 meetings are being organized across the country. In this sequence, the last meeting of the G20 Tourism Working Group will be held in Goa from Monday. This meeting will continue till June 22. Tourism ministers of G20 countries will participate in this meeting. At the same time, side events will be organized by the Ministry of Tourism on important initiatives of Cruise Tourism, Global Tourism Plastic Initiative and Public Private Sector.
V Vidyavati, Secretary, Union Ministry of Tourism gave information about this. He informed that during the four-day meeting of the Tourism Working Group, a roadmap will be passed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He further said that the Ministry of Tourism has made positive progress in finalizing the two key deliverables of the Tourism Working Group. He said that its three meetings have already taken place.

He said issues such as cruise tourism and circular economy of plastics in tourism would be discussed. Addressing a press conference, Union Tourism Ministry Secretary V Vidyavati said the working group will pass the Goa Roadmap for Tourism as a vehicle for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during the four-day meeting.

Rakesh Verma, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tourism said that the registration of 150 delegates from eight countries has been confirmed for the Tourism Working Group meeting. He said bilateral meetings will take place during the event, including one between India and the US. The objective of the Working Group meeting and the Tourism Ministers’ meeting in Goa is to strengthen economic growth, preserve cultural heritage and promote sustainable development of the region.
