Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, New Delhi, March 16: The Election Commission of India will announce the schedule of Lok Sabha elections on Saturday. The Election Commission will announce the schedule of General Elections 2024 and some state assemblies at 3 pm on Saturday. The Commission made it clear in the invitation to the press conference that the election program will be released, due to which the situation regarding implementation of the code of conduct has also become clear. The Commission will stream it live on social media platforms.

The current tenure of the Lok Sabha is ending on June 16, hence it has become necessary to form a new House before this date. Lok Sabha elections in 2019 were announced on 10 March and were held in seven phases starting from 11 April. The counting of votes took place on 23 May.

Along with the Lok Sabha elections, the dates of assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh can also be announced. Along with this, will there be elections in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) or not? This will also be cleared on Saturday. In the results of 23 May 2019, BJP had got 303 seats.

BJP was far ahead of the majority mark of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha. With this victory, the party formed the government for the second consecutive time. The main opposition Congress had to be content with 52 seats. Whereas, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) had got 24 seats. YSRCP and TMC were successful in winning 22 seats each.
