Earthquake of 4.7 magnitude strikes Mizoram’s Champhai
An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 hit Champhai district of Mizoram at around 6.16 am on April 10.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km at about 151 km ESE of Champhai in Mizoram.
The tremors were also felt in the neighboring states of Assam and Nagaland.
Earlier, on March 18, at around 9.03 am, an earthquake of 3.6 magnitude occurred in Assam’s Jorhat district.
As per reports, the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 50 km near the Nagaland border, 23 km from Jorhat district.
In another such incident, a low intensity earthquake of magnitude 4.1 was observed in Guwahati and its neighboring areas on 8 March.
According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter of the earthquake was in Kamrup and tremors were felt at 3:59 am on Wednesday.
