Shimla, 02 August: Heavy rains that started late Thursday night in Himachal Pradesh caused widespread devastation, due to which cloudbursts were reported in three different parts of the state. In these incidents, clouds burst in Mandi, Kullu, and Rampur districts of Shimla, affecting more than 50 people. So far 49 people are missing in these incidents, while five have died and one person has been injured.

Dhuni Chand Rana, Special Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management, Himachal Pradesh, said that nine people were trapped due to the strong flow of water in a village near the Beas river, who were successfully rescued by the NDRF and Fire Brigade team. 65 houses were damaged in this disaster and 23 animals also lost their lives.

70 NDRF personnel are conducting search operations in Rampur, which also includes ITBP and SDRF personnel. Special Secretary Dhuni Chand also informed that 20 to 25 people are reported to be stranded in Malana, including some tourists.

However, all these people are safe and have food and water available with them. A plan has been made to evacuate them safely on Saturday. Efforts are on to bring the situation under control with the prompt action of the disaster management team, and the state administration has intensified relief and rescue operations in the affected areas.
