Shimla – Honorable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has alleged that there was a mining scam of more than Rs 100 crore during the former Jairam Thakur government of Himachal Pradesh.
CM Sukhu said that Himachal Pradesh’s former Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jairam Thakur has been blatantly scammed by the mining mafias, as sixty-three stone crushers on the Beas basin were run by the mining mafias without permission by the previous Jairam Thakur government.

Honorable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that a mining scam of more than Rs 100 crore has been carried out by the mining mafia indiscriminately by the former Jairam Thakur government of Himachal Pradesh.
CM Sukhu clearly said that he will term the illegal excavation done by the mining mafias indiscriminately by the previous Jairam Thakur government as a scam, because the Multi Sector Committee on Beas Basin has reported that sixty-three stone crushers were being operated without permission.
CM Sukhu said that only now the complete investigation report of four major districts falling under Beas Basin has been submitted to the Himachal Pradesh Government by the Multi Sector Committee.
Due to which, now a complete investigation report of all the 131 stone crushers in the twelve districts of Himachal Pradesh will be done by the Multi Sector Committee, then it will be known whether all the stone crushers have been found under valid mining lease or are being used by the mining mafia for mining.
Making serious allegations against the previous Jairam Thakur government, CM Sukhu said that if illegal excavation has been done by mining mafias in the entire Himachal Pradesh, then the entire royalty amount will have to be deposited in the revenue of the Himachal Pradesh government.
Targeting all the mining mafias, CM Sukhu said that Himachal Pradesh Revenue Department will start its action against all the mining mafias whether they are factory operators or owners of illegal stone crushers without mining lease.
In many important districts of Himachal Pradesh, incidents of gravel being crushed by generator sets have also been recorded in the report of the Multi Sector Committee. The royalty amount of all the illegal generator sets has not yet been deposited in the Himachal Pradesh Revenue Department, due to which the power sector is facing problems. CM Sukhu said that Generator sets were being run recklessly on illegal excavations in himachal pradesh.
Himachal Pradesh government is losing crores of rupees of revenue every day due to illegal excavation and generator sets.
On Monday, while addressing the Diary Times Press Conference at the official Chief Minister’s residence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Sukhwinder Singh in Okover capital Shimla, CM Sukhu said that the operation of all stone crushers being run indiscriminately on generator sets in Himachal Pradesh has been banned.
If any mining mafia is found doing illegal excavation by the Multi Sector Committee, then that stone crusher operator will be fined heavily by Himachal Pradesh Government and will be produced in the judicial custody of Himachal Pradesh High Court.
CM Sukhu said that at present the Multi Sector Committee working under the leadership of Himachal Pradesh High Level Committee is arresting all the illegal stone crushers engaged in illegal excavation in all the twelve districts of Himachal Pradesh, which are being run indiscriminately without mining lease. Multi Sector Committee will present the investigation report before the Himachal Pradesh Government.
CM Sukhu has had a detailed discussion with Himachal Pradesh Government’s Industries Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan regarding all the illegal stone crushers.
The investigation report submitted by the Multi Sector Committee, working as per the guidelines of the High Power Committee, to the Government of Himachal Pradesh has found that approximately one hundred thirty one stone crushers were being operated in the entire Beas Basin.
Now the Multi Sector Committee has presented its investigation report on all the stone crushers installed in the four major districts of Himachal Pradesh, Kullu, Mandi, Hamirpur and Kangra districts, before the Himachal Pradesh Government.
In the report submitted by the Multi Sector Committee to the Himachal Pradesh Government, three stone crushers have been found which have been completely closed.
Also, the Multi Sector Committee, while investigating each stone crusher, has found that sixty-three stone crushers have not obtained valid mining lease licenses.
Just as the former Jairam Thakur government of Himachal Pradesh had closed both its eyes, due to which illegal excavation was carried out day and night by the mining mafia.
Officials and teams of Himachal Pradesh Revenue Department have been sent for on-site inspection for complete inspection of all stone crushers and generator sets.
Teams of officials of Multi Sector Committee and Himachal Pradesh Revenue Department will submit their respective investigation reports to Harsh Vardhan Chauhan, Industries Minister of Himachal Pradesh Government.
Also, Industry Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that all those stone crushers whose operators have been found to have valid mining lease licenses in the investigation report of the Multi Sector Committee, It is being operated daily from 8 am to 6 pm.
