Shimla, June 16: CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday visited Narkanda in Theog Assembly constituency of Shimla district and met the local people and listened to their problems. The CM assured various public delegations of Theog Assembly constituency that their problems would be resolved in time.The CM said that for the first time in the history of the state, the Himachal Pradesh government has paid all the liabilities of apple growers under the Mandi Intervention Scheme (MIS).Rs 153 crore has been released by the Congress government to settle all the liabilities of apple growers along with the liability of Rs 90 crore of the previous BJP government.

The CM said that the subsidy given to the farmers and orchardists of the state on apple pesticides and fertilizers etc. was stopped by the previous BJP government, but the subsidy has been restored by the present Congress government, due to which quality products are now available to the farmers.

The CM said that the Congress government has made an ambitious increase of Rs 1.50 per kg in the minimum support price of apple, due to which the minimum support price of apple has now become Rs 12 per kg.The CM said that in the year 2023, the sale of apples on per kilogram basis was ensured by the state government and in the year 2024, the universal carton system has been implemented.

Talking to reporters, the CM said that there is immense potential for tourism in the upper areas of Shimla district and the Himachal government is working day and night to promote tourism activities.The CM said that an amount of Rs 5 crore has been allocated by the Himachal government for the establishment of an ice skating rink in Narkanda and a multipurpose sports hall will also be constructed in Narkanda.The CM said that the government is also making efforts to upgrade the Dhalli to Narkanda road as a four-lane highway and provide the facility of tunnels for the convenience of the passengers.

CM Sukhu said that the four-lane highway project of Dhalli to Narkanda road will be discussed with Union Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.The CM said the state government is also considering setting up a ropeway to Hatu temple and the Hatu temple road widening plan is being considered to increase the number of tourists.CM prayed at Hatu Mata temple and wished for happiness and prosperity of the people of the state. He also planted a sapling in the Narkanda periphery.

During this, CM Sukhu’s wife Kamlesh Thakur, MLA Kuldeep Rathore, Vice President of State Forest Development Corporation Kehar Singh Khachi, President of Himachal Pradesh Cooperative Bank Devendra Shyam, former MLA Rakesh Singha, Additional Chief Secretary Omkar Chand Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap and all other dignitaries registered their presence.
