CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu – Prohibition on felling of Trees of 6 Species including Mango, Stop Smuggling of Wood and Save Resources

Kumud Sharma : The Himachal Pradesh Government has banned the felling of trees of six other species including mango.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that these include Mango, Triyamble, Tuni, Paza, Ritha and Baan trees.
He said that felling of these trees has been banned with immediate effect in order to prevent theft of timber and fuel wood from outside the state. These trees have been brought under annual felling programme. Now these trees can be cut only with the permission of the Forest Department. However, under the new rule, maximum five trees will be allowed to be cut in a year for domestic purposes. The Chief Minister said that the State There will be a complete ban on taking any kind of timber and fuel wood outside. Its purpose is to stop smuggling of wood and save the valuable resources of the state.
The Forest Department has notified a revised list of thirteen tree species that can be cut only after intimating the forest examining officer.
