Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, June 15 :CM Sukhu said in the ‘Alumni Maitree’ program organized by the students of the 90s in HPU on Saturday, to once again restore the student union elections in Himachal Pradesh under a peaceful process.The two-day Alumni Maitree program of HPU was officially inaugurated by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu by formally lighting the lamp.More than 600 alumni who studied in the 90s and are living in India and abroad have registered their presence to participate in the two-day Alumni Maitree program.It is worth mentioning that CM Sukhu himself is an alumnus of HPU in the 90s and it is because of student politics that he is the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh today.CM Sukhu became emotional by refreshing the memories of the 90s with more than 600 former HPU students who studied in the 90s and are living in India and abroad and CM assured to restore and conduct the student union elections without any fights.
Sharing the secret of success, the CM said that he has been able to become the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh by being strong-willed and enduring the hardships of perseverance.CM Sukhu said that he had learned the nuances of politics in the 90s of HPU. Refreshing the memories of the 90s of HPU, the CM shared many such collected memories and reminded of those old days.
CM Sukhu said in his address that many students who have studied from HPU are working to improve the difficult geographical conditions of Himachal Pradesh by becoming MLAs in the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, and many alumni of HPU are performing best in the famous government and private institutions of India.
The CM said that student politics is most important but fights and quarrels are spoiling student politics. He also informed about the plan of the Congress government to restore the elections of the student union.
CM Sukhu said in his address that the possibilities of SCA elections in HPU are going to be explored by the Congress government because only SCA elections provide students with the opportunity to make a career in political life.
CM Sukhu said that a team of officers is going to be formed to explore the possibilities of SCA elections in HPU.
CM Sukhu said that students should avoid greed and illusion in their lives and follow the right path by adopting the role of serving the society.
The CM said that the Congress government is taking the right steps day and night to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant. Along with this, the Congress government is also taking many historic decisions to improve the education system.
The CM announced to give an amount of two crore rupees for the construction of the building of the Alumni Association of HPU on behalf of the Himachal Pradesh government.
The CM said in his address that the present government is doing a wonderful job of building a school and college from 1st to 12th for Disabled and handicapped children in 45 bighas of land in Kandaghat of Solan district.
CM Sukhu also released three books in the ‘Alumni Maitree’ program, in which the book ‘Juni’ written by senior journalist Sanjeev Sharma was released. In the book ‘Juni’, a wonderful love story has been told by connecting it with all the hidden tourist places of Himachal Pradesh. The second and third book ‘Main Aur Meri HP University’ and ‘Yadein Burans Ki’ by JP Sheikhpura were also released by the CM. The book Yaadein Burans Ki has been written by 450 authors.The CM also presented lifetime free membership certificate of HPU Alumni Association to four specially abled students.
MLA Satpal Singh Satti, while refreshing the memories of the days of student life in the nineties, told in his address that CM Sukhu is his friend of HPU.
Satpal Singh Satti said that the atmosphere of HPU was tremendous in the nineties and all the students used to help each other. Also, every kind of help was provided to the students studying in HPU.
The CM said that 25 student leaders of HPU from the 1990s are members of the current Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
CM said that three types of people are found in HPU and this is where the true struggle of students begins.CM Sukhu said that along with Union Health Minister JP Nadda and former Union Minister of Government of India Anand Sharma, thousands of alumni of HPU are writing a history of great success in various fields of India.
CM Sukhu put a full stop on the news of his wife being made a candidate in the by-elections to be held on three assembly seats of Himachal Pradesh and said that he does not know who is talking about making his wife a candidate from Hamirpur.CM Sukhu told that the tickets are yet to be finalized in Delhi, And the list will be out soon.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the two-day Alumni Maitree program, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sundar Singh Thakur, MLA Kewal Singh Pathania, Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap and more than 600 former students of HPU from the nineties, who came from the country and abroad, registered their dignified presence.
