Kangra, July 11: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has allocated Rs 201 crore for setting up a milk processing plant at Dhagwar in Kangra district. The plant will be built in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board and work will start soon.

The CM said that the initial capacity of this milk processing plant will be 1.50 lakh liters per day, which can be increased to 3 lakh liters per day. Milk products like curd, lassi, butter, ghee, paneer, khoya, flavored milk and missoula cheese will be prepared in this fully automated milk processing plant. This plant will prove to be a milestone in strengthening the economy of the farmers of Kangra, Hamirpur, Chamba and Una districts.

The CM said that this project will play an important role in strengthening the economy of the livestock farmers of Himachal Pradesh. The realization of this project will bring prosperity in the lives of people associated with the animal husbandry sector and farmers will get better prices for their hard work. This milk processing plant demonstrates the commitment of the Himachal Pradesh government towards improving the livelihood of farmers associated with the agriculture and animal husbandry community.

CM Sukhu said that after the project starts operating, various types of products like milk powder, ice cream and cheese will be prepared in this milk processing plant. He said that the progress and prosperity of farmers is the priority of the Himachal Pradesh government. The Himachal Pradesh government has increased the purchase price of cow milk from Rs 32 to Rs 45 and buffalo milk to Rs 55 per liter.

The CM said that 95 percent of the population of Himachal Pradesh lives in rural areas. The Himachal Pradesh government will launch many more new schemes in the future to strengthen the rural economy and increase the income of farmers. Work is being done to make Himachal Pradesh a self-reliant state by strengthening the rural economy of Himachal Pradesh. Sukhu said that every possible effort is being made to realize the concept of self-reliant Himachal Pradesh by strengthening the rural economy.
