CM Sukhu: Milkfed’s trademark Him registered by Government of India

Shimla, June 16: CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired the review meeting of Himachal Pradesh State Milk Producers Federation (Milkfed) on Sunday. The CM directed the officials of Milkfed to complete all the processes related to the construction of Dhagwar milk plant and its construction in a timely manner so that the economy of the region can be strengthened on a large scale.

The CM said that the present state government is committed to strengthening the rural economy and activities related to milk production will play an important role in this. The state government is also giving special preference to empowering the stakeholders associated with the rural economy.

The CM said in the meeting that the capacity of milk plants in Kullu, Hamirpur, Nahan and Una should be increased to 20,000 liters each. He said that the registration process of milk production committees should be expedited so that all possible help can be provided to the farmers of the state.

The CM also directed the officials to focus on capacity building of farmers and milk quality.The CM also directed the officials to rationalize the milk marketing process and its transportation. The CM informed that Milkfed’s trademark Him has been registered by the Government of India.

The CM said that at present there are 1148 village milk cooperative societies in Himachal Pradesh with 47905 members associated with them. The number of women in milk cooperative societies is 19388. At present, 11 milk production plants and 116 bulk milk coolers are established in the state. Due to various steps being taken by Milkfed, excellent increase is being seen in the quality parameters of milk collection.

Agriculture Minister Prof. Chander Kumar said that to strengthen the milk activities, registration of cooperative societies should be accelerated so that the economy of the farmers of the state can be strengthened. Chander Kumar said that in order to strengthen the Milkfed, the main focus should be on the quality of milk.

Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, CM’s Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, Milkfed Managing Director Dr. Vikas Sood, Director Animal Husbandry Department Dr. Pradeep Sharma, Senior Manager Preeti Arya and other senior officers registered their presence in the review meeting of Milkfed.
