CM Sukhu inaugurates ‘Masters Universe’ exhibition at Gaiety Theatre
Shimla, September 1: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday inaugurated the‘Masters Universe’ exhibition at the historic Gaiety Theatre in Shimla on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of renowned Russian artist, thinker and pioneer of peace Nicholas Roerich. This exhibition has been organized under the joint aegis of International Center of the Roerich, Moscow, International Roerich Memorial Trust Nagar, District Kullu and Department of Language, Art and Culture. This exhibition will be held till September 25, 2024.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister praised the invaluable and varied contributions of Nicholas Roerich as an artist, writer and thinker and said that he made a significant contribution to promote the rich traditions of the state, especially the Kullu Valley. During his nearly 20 years in the state, he studied the Himalayan culture in depth and advocated the preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the Kullu Valley.
The Chief Minister said that Roerich had a profound influence at the global level. Signed by 21 countries on 15 April 1935, the International Roerich Treaty aims to preserve cultural heritage. He said that Roerich always strived for peace and harmony. He believed that global conflicts can be resolved through cultural values ​​by promoting the spirit of respect and harmony among the youth. Talking to journalists on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the relations between India and Russia are centuries old and culturally there is a lot of similarity in the thinking of Russia and India. Russia has always helped India in difficult times. He said that the state government will further strengthen the International Roerich Memorial Trust located in Naggar.
Let us tell you that three days ago, Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had announced to stop the salary allowances of himself, minister and CPS for two months citing the poor financial condition of the state during the assembly session, due to which there is a lot of uproar. But now Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has reversed his statement and said that there is no economic crisis in Himachal Pradesh, but due to discipline and corrective steps, he had decided to stop his, minister and CPS salary allowances, which is being politicized.
The Chief Minister said that there is no economic crisis in Himachal Pradesh and the state government has worked towards strengthening the state’s economy from the very first day, which is showing positive results. He said that the state government is paying the arrears of 27 thousand pensioners above 70 years of age and government employees have been given dearness allowance at the rate of 7 percent. The state government is working to ensure the overall development of all sections of the society including farmers, gardeners, laborers, women, small shopkeepers. He said that the state government has set a target to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant by the year 2027 and a prosperous state of the country by the year 2032.
