Shimla, August 18: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various developmental projects worth Rs 184 crore in Hamirpur district. He laid the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports complex to be built at Kharidi in Nadaun area at a cost of Rs 65 crore. This modern complex will have an 8-lane swimming pool, a shooting range as well as dedicated areas for sports like wrestling, boxing, kabaddi, yoga, table tennis and badminton. He said that the state government is also constructing such multi-purpose sports complexes in other parts of the state to keep the youth away from drug addiction.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of sports to keep the youth away from drug addiction and for a healthy and active lifestyle. He said that this sports complex will be a symbol of the commitment of the state government to hone the young talents and make them physically and mentally strong. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of two new Kisan Prashikshan Kendras at Dhanpur (Bara) and Krishi Parisar Hamirpur at a cost of Rs 4.50 crore. He said that this center will play an important role in skill development of farmers and making them aware about modern agricultural practices. In the training programs, farmers will be provided information about topics like minor irrigation techniques, crop diversification and advanced vegetable production methods. He said that apart from this, this center will also play an important role in the formation and strengthening of Krishi Vikas Sanghs (KVS) and Farmer Producer Groups (FPOS) and will convert them into sustainable business units.

Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu laid the foundation stone of strengthening work in Bhatta-Salauni-Deotsidh road at a cost of Rs 35 crore, Rangas-Kangoo-Dhaneta road at a cost of Rs 49 crore, Gandiyan-Badaitar at a cost of Rs 5.67 crore and Paniyala-Kashmir and Dhaneta-Barsar road at a cost of Rs 16 crore. He said that strengthening of these roads will ensure better transport facilities to the people of the area.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Center of Excellence to be built at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bara at a cost of Rs 1.31 crore. With this facility, farmers of Hamirpur district and adjoining areas will get high quality vegetable plants. He said that 3.50 lakh plants will be produced annually in 1400 hectares of agricultural area for progressive farmers. He said that the state government is making efforts to strengthen the rural economy and is expanding facilities in the rural area. Wheat produced through natural farming will be purchased at the rate of Rs 40 and maize at the rate of Rs 30 per kg. He said that the state government is purchasing buffalo milk at the rate of Rs 55 per liter and cow milk at the rate of Rs 45 per liter. Apart from this, a modern milk processing plant is being set up at Dhagwar in Kangra district at a cost of Rs 250 crore. The initial capacity of this plant will be 1.50 lakh liters per day, which can be increased to a capacity of three lakh liters per day.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed postgraduate block at the Horticulture and Forestry College Neri at a cost of Rs 3.46 crore. He laid the foundation stone of the girls hostel to be constructed in the college at a cost of Rs 3.62 crore. On this occasion, the Chief Minister interacted with the students of Horticulture and Forestry College Neri. Talking to the media in Nadaun, the Chief Minister said that road, bridge and drinking water schemes have suffered heavy damage due to cloudburst in Taklech near Rampur area of ​​​​Shimla district. He directed the officials last night itself to take appropriate steps in this regard soon, so that the people of the area do not have to face any inconvenience.

Ayush and Sports Minister Yadvinder Goma, MLAs Suresh Kumar and Ranjit Rana, Kangra Cooperative Bank Chairman Kuldeep Pathania, Kangra Cooperative Primary Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Chairman Ram Chandra Pathania, APMC Chairman Ajay Sharma, Dr. YS Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University Nauni Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajeshwar Chandel, Agriculture Director Kumud Singh, District Congress President Suman Bharti, Naidun Block Congress President Captain Prithvi Chand, senior Congress leaders and representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions were also present on the occasion.
