CM Sukhu: Congress party exposed BJP’s conspiracy in front of voters, who responded decisively in favor of Congress
Shimla, July 22: Buoyed by the victory in two seats in the recently held by-elections, Hon’ble Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the voters of Himachal Pradesh have strongly supported the Congress party and rejected the BJP’s alleged attempt to destabilise the state government. Addressing the media after the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected MLAs Kamlesh Thakur, Hardeep Singh Bawa and Ashish Sharma, CM Sukhu claimed that the BJP had hatched a conspiracy to topple the Congress-led state government, which led to the recent by-elections.
CM Sukhu said, “The Congress party exposed the conspiracy of the BJP before the voters, who responded decisively in favour of the Congress.” CM Sukhu emphasized that the Congress representation in the Assembly has now increased to 40 MLAs. The Chief Minister advised the BJP leaders to stay away from negative politics and cooperate with the state government for the betterment of Himachal Pradesh. He called upon the BJP to stop obstructing the central government projects for the state and emphasized the need for cooperative governance.
CM Sukhu lauded the state government’s efforts during last year’s disaster, which received global recognition. Despite meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he said the state is yet to receive any disaster relief assistance from the Centre.
Affirming his commitment to take the state towards rapid development with the cooperation of the people, CM Sukhu claimed the Congress government had created 28,000 employment opportunities in the government sector alone, while the previous BJP government had provided 20,000 jobs, many of which faced legal challenges.
Responding to questions, CM Sukhu criticised the previous BJP government for excessive borrowing without investing enough in development projects. He pointed out that the current government had to borrow to pay interest on the inherited debt. However, Sukhu stressed that the recent measures have improved the state’s economic condition by twenty percent.
