CM Sukhu: Bhuntar Airstrip Expansion to Attract Five Crore Tourists to Himachal

• Shimla: Forest Approval Received For Bhuntar Airport Expansion, CM Said – Tourism Activities Will Get A Boost.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that approval has been received from the Forest Department for the expansion of Bhuntar Airport. With the approval, the way has been paved for the expansion of Bhuntar airstrip, which is important as the gateway to the picturesque valleys of Kullu Valley. CM Sukhu said that after ensuring necessary approvals under Forest (Conservation) Act for the expansion of Bhuntar Airport Project, the work of expansion of the airport is about to start. All approvals were necessary in view of the regulatory standards and extended safety measures set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Government of India.

CM Sukhu said that Bhuntar Airport is going to play the most important role in promoting tourism activities in Kullu Valley. Through the expansion of air services at Bhuntar Airport, a large number of tourists will be able to easily reach the beautiful valleys of Kullu and Lahaul Valleys.

CM Sukhu said that Alliance Air has now started direct flights from Amritsar to Kullu and due to expansion, tourists from India and abroad are also going to benefit from the facilities of Bhuntar Airport.

CM Sukhu said that the state government is determined to promote tourism activities in Himachal Pradesh and with an increase of Rs 50 crore, Present state government has allocated a budget of Rs 3,000 crore for the tourism sector. CM Sukhu said that after horticulture and hydropower, tourism sector is the backbone of the economy of Himachal and the livelihood of lakhs of families is linked to the tourism sector of Himachal, due to which the present state government is taking every possible step to promote tourism activities. Along with strengthening the infrastructure, excellent facilities are also being provided to the tourists to make their visit and stay in Himachal Pradesh memorable. Chief Minister Sukhu said that the state government has set a target of attracting more than five crore tourists every year in Himachal and effective steps are also being taken by the state government in the direction of tourism.
