Cheating Scandal Rocks HPSSC: Commission Forced to Shift to Shimla
- For a period of three years, clerks, drivers, and peons who were employed by the now-disbanded Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) in Hamirpur, collaborated with a senior superintendent named Uma Azad from the secrecy branch to sell recruitment exam question papers to their close relatives for financial gain.
- The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau’s additional director general of police, Satwant Atwal Trivedi, has announced that an interim report outlining the investigation’s advancements into the corruption case has been submitted, and charges against the individuals involved will be filed in the near future.
- In December of last year, an individual reported to the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau that they had been offered a solved question paper for the junior office assistant-IT recruitment exam in exchange for ₹2.5 lacks. The vigilance team confirmed the allegations and caught kingpin Uma Azad, her son Nikhil Azad, servant Neeraj, agent Sanjeev Sharma, and two candidates in the act with the question paper. The candidates had paid ₹5,000 in advance.
- The ongoing recruitment process that was being handled by the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) has been transferred to the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) in Shimla. This has been done for the convenience of the candidates until further arrangements can be made or a new testing agency is established, as per the statement given by an official to the media.
- An official has confirmed that the responsibility of conducting all examinations will be transferred to the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC). Furthermore, employees of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) have been moved to the “surplus” pool and will be provided with options to join departments of their preference.
