Shimla, August 08: Sukhu government, which is facing financial crisis, has taken an important decision in the cabinet meeting held on Thursday and after electricity, has now abolished the water subsidy as well. In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, ending the decision of the previous government to provide free water in rural areas, a fixed charge of Rs 100 per month has been fixed on water connection. This decision has been taken citing losses in the Jal Shakti Department. However, people with income less than Rs 50 thousand, disabled and single women will continue to get free water.
Relief for disaster affected families
The government has decided to bear all the expenses of free ration, cylinder and accommodation for 89 disaster affected families for the next three months.
Written examination of police recruitment by Public Service Commission
The cabinet has decided to fill about 900 posts of various categories, in which approval has been given to fill 462 posts in Tanda Medical College. Apart from this, the written examination of police recruitment will now be conducted by the Public Service Commission.

Efforts to reduce the loss of HRTC
It has been decided to re-advertise 168 loss-making bus routes of HRTC so that the loss can be reduced. Police personnel will get free service in HRTC buses only for government work.
Changes in Excise and Taxation Department
The cabinet has decided to divide the Excise and Taxation Department into two wings, in which one wing will be GST and the other will be Taxation Department. With these decisions, the Sukhu government has taken concrete steps to improve the financial condition of the state and help the disaster-affected families.
