According to the Election Commission, there will be a total of 10 rounds of counting in Dehra. After the second round, BJP’s Hoshyar Singh got 4942 votes while Congress’ Kamlesh Thakur got 4582 votes. Five candidates are trying their luck on this seat. Trends have not yet come from Hamirpur and Nalagarh seats.
Counting of votes is being done at Government College Dhaliara for Dehra Assembly Constituency, Senior Secondary School Hamirpur for Hamirpur and Government Senior Secondary School Nalagarh for Nalagarh Assembly Constituency. Election results will be declared by noon.
About 71 percent voting took place in all three assembly constituencies on July 10. The highest voting was recorded in Nalagarh and the lowest in Dehra.
The fate of a total of 13 candidates will be decided in the by-election on three seats. Five candidates each are in the fray in Dehra and Nalagarh while three candidates are in Hamirpur.
In Dehra, the main contest is between Chief Minister’s wife and Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur and BJP’s Hoshyar Singh. In Hamirpur, there is a contest between Congress’ Pushpinder Verma and BJP’s Ashish Sharma. On the other hand, in Nalagarh Assembly Constituency, BJP’s K.L. Thakur and Congress’s Hardeep Singh Bawa are in the fray.
In the assembly elections held in the year 2022, independent candidates won these three seats, while Congress came second and BJP came third.
By-elections have been held on these seats due to the resignation of independent MLAs in the month of March this year.
The special thing is that all the three independent MLAs who resigned have contested the elections on BJP ticket this time. The defeat and victory on these seats will not have any effect on the ruling Congress government, but this by-election has become a question of prestige for both BJP and Congress.
