Shimla, September 03: BJP State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal today formally launched the state-wide ‘Sangthan Parv Membership Campaign-2024’ from the historic Gaiety Theatre. The event marked the beginning of a crucial membership drive aimed at expanding the party’s base and strengthening its ideological commitments.

In a symbolic gesture, Dr. Bindal welcomed Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur as the first member of Himachal Pradesh BJP under this campaign. Both Thakur and Bindal set an example for other party leaders by rejoining the party through a missed call on the toll-free number 8800002024.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bindal highlighted the widespread enthusiasm towards the campaign and informed that more than 1 crore people have registered as BJP members across the country in a single day. He encouraged common citizens to join through various platforms including toll-free numbers, NaMo App and BJP website.

Emphasizing on the party’s commitment to democratic values and internal democracy, Dr Bindal said that the BJP’s growth and resilience stems from its adherence to these principles. “Our party has faced many challenges since its inception, but the dedication of our workers has taken us to new heights. We are steadfast in our commitment to put the nation first,” he said.

The BJP state president presented the membership drive not as a mere numerical exercise but as a reflection of the party’s ideological and emotional values. He likened the process of adding new members to the expansion of a family, symbolizing a deep bond and shared patriotism.

Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur reiterated this sentiment while recalling the party’s humble beginnings and the struggles faced by BJP workers. He shared anecdotes from the Jan Sangh era, emphasizing the sacrifices made by the early members of the party who faced ridicule and persecution. “Our concept of ‘Nation First’ has guided us in overcoming these challenges,” Thakur said, praising the party’s resilience and dedication.

Thakur also highlighted the ongoing efforts to improve representation, including the demand for 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies. He emphasized the importance of involving women in the party’s membership drive to ensure successful representation of women in future elections.

The reach of the drive extends to border villages, which Thakur described as the country’s “first villages”, reversing the negative perception associated with them. The goal is to set up special units in these areas and make entire villages members of the BJP, thereby broadening the party’s grassroots support.

As the ‘Sangthan Parv Membership Drive-2024’ gains momentum, the BJP is gearing itself up to further strengthen its influence and reach across the country, driven by its core values and commitment to democratic principles.
