Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, April 09: Students are receiving fake messages, emails, phone calls and fake links to deposit fees through admission and re-registration etc. in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). In such a situation, students have been warned about this by IGNOU. It has been said that students should not fall into any kind of trap and candidates should be careful, because IGNOU has issued a notice regarding such fraud.

The notice said that IGNOU has not authorized any person or agency to receive payment for any purpose in this manner. Students are advised to visit the official website of IGNOU only and follow the links provided in it. This information has been given by IGNOU that some links are being sent on social media, in which information about enrolment, fee payment etc. has been given. Therefore this notice and advisory has been issued. For correct information, candidates should visit IGNOU website.

Along with this, IGNOU said that emails related to admission or re-registration etc. are sent by the University Headquarters and Regional Centers (RC) only through official email IDs. Emails received from any other email ID for payment will be considered fake and reported to the police. IGNOU will not be responsible for any such fraudulent payment links or payments made through the website.

At the same time, IGNOU has extended the last date for filling online forms for examinations in various courses without late fee till 22 April. Term end examinations will be held from June 1.

It should be noted that there are 20 to 25 percent students in Himachal Pradesh who study under distance learning. Especially those people take admission in IGNOU, who due to some reason cannot study regularly. In such a situation, these people complete their studies under IGNOU.
