Shimla, September 12: Former Union minister and Lok Sabha MP from Hamirpur Anurag Singh Thakur has slammed the Congress government of Himachal Pradesh for using force on protesters in Sanjauli and called it a dictatorial action. Thakur condemned the police action in which several local residents were injured during the protest. He called it an unfortunate reflection of the dictatorial attitude of the Congress party.
In his statement, Thakur said, “Dictatorship is in the DNA of the Congress and what happened in Sanjauli today is extremely unfortunate. The lathicharge on peaceful protesters, use of water cannons and putting Hindu activists in jail exposes the dictatorial attitude of the Congress government. The image of Himachal Pradesh has been tarnished across the country. Why are people being prevented from protesting in a healthy democracy? What crime have Hindu organizations committed that they have to use such force? Can’t the Hindu community even protest for their demands under the Congress rule?”
He further claimed that the incident exposes the “anti-Sanatan mindset” of the Congress party, adding, “The brutal police action against Hindu activists by the Congress government cannot be condemned enough.”
Thakur advised the state government to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Sanjauli incident, stressing the need for a sensitive and fair resolution of the matter. “The new circumstances that have arisen in the Sanjauli case need to be investigated in depth, and it is important to fact-check the reasons behind it. The local people are very concerned about the demographic changes in the area, and their grievances should be taken seriously. Himachal Pradesh has always been a peaceful state, and such conflicts are disturbing for everyone.”
Recalling similar past incidents, Thakur warned that tensions could escalate if the government does not act with alacrity and caution. He demanded that the Congress government resolve the Sanjauli issue with full sensitivity and consideration for the sentiments of the local population.
