The first electric Royal Enfield has arrived and it is called the Flying Flea C6. All future electric motorcycles will be launched under the ‘Flying Flea’ brand, which is completely dedicated to EVs. The new Flying Flea brand is inspired by the original Royal Enfield Flying Flea motorcycle from the 1940s, which was created for use during World War II, when these machines were airdropped via parachute to provide lightweight and easy-to-use mobility in various terrains. The same lightness and agility as in the old motorcycles is also offered in the Flying Flea electric motorcycles.

The Flying Flea C6 is a retro-futuristic motorcycle with a round LED headlight and girder forks at the front, a device that has not been used in two-wheelers for a while. Interestingly, the overall design and appearance of the RE electric bike is smaller as opposed to the petrol-powered motorcycles. The thin 17-inch tyres on the bike confirm this. It also has a forged aluminium frame.
This can only mean that RE wants this motorcycle to be an urban modern classic electric motorcycle with a good range that can compete with the current crop of electric two-wheelers in the market. The seat height seems low, and the rider’s triangle seems comfortable and suitable for daily commuting.
There will also be a two-seater version of the Flying Flea C6. Then you will also see a round TFT display. The EV also gets cornering ABS and traction control. We expect the Royal Enfield EV to have a fixed battery with a range of 100-150 kilometres. The motorcycle is expected to have good power and torque output. All the specifications will be revealed later.
There are also some electric motorcycles available for sale in India like Revolt RV 400, Matter Era 5000, Oben Roar, Ola Roadster, Rapti T30, Torque Kratos etc. and it will be interesting to see how the Flying Flea C6 will be priced in India compared to other electric motorcycles.
